SPECTRA DRAFT 3
April 12, 2019
The final draft of this project made significant process in the development process of this script.
Firstly, this draft most successfully integrated the medium of comic books as a form of playwrighting by considering text as an image unto itself, rather than using the icon of pictures as in comic books.
The text also most successfully evoked the possibility of collaboration between myself as a writer and my team of performers and designers in the room, thus allowing for a clearer sense as to how to go about developing choices within the script and develop character arcs and conflict. This was done by simply focussing on working with performers, rather than trying to document every aspect of the rehearsal process, including design. In doing so, this allowed for a clearer sense of the action of the script and opened up the possibility of collaboration with performers by allowing them to respond to the tasks of the script and then working to modify the way they approached that task through direction. As a result, this helped to provide a clearer sense as to how to structure the action of the script to tell story, and resulted in this version of the script most successfully synthesizing with the goals of rehearsals.
